The name Bromine is derived from the ancient Greek word bromos, meaning “stench.” At room temperature, Bromine is a red-brown liquid that evaporates to an orange vapor and has a scent similar to Chlorine. It is corrosive and toxic and is the only non-metal that is liquid at room temperature.
