A rare blue-gray metal known for its inability to absorb acids. Because of this, it was named after the mythological Tantalus. Tantalus was condemned for eternity to stand in water that would recede when he tried to drink, while the fruit above his head would rise out of his reach when he tried to eat. He could never be satiated just as this metal cannot be saturated.
