Constellation Chamaeleon - 31" x 31"

Constellation Chamaeleon is an original acrylic, charcoal, and silver leaf painting on a 30" x 30" canvas in a contemporary maple "float" style frame.

 

Chamaeleon was one of twelve constellations created by Dutch astronomer Petrus Plancius.  It's located in the skies of the Southern hemisphere near Antarctica.  The first time it was depicted was in a star atlas (Uranometrica by Johann Bayer) in 1603.
